Inspired by the famous Italian wax figures of the 1700's, this piece depicts a strangely sweet, Barbie-esque twist on the classic Anatomical Venuses.
Every aspect of this serene doll is painstakingly handcrafted, sculpted from polymer clay and painted with acrylics that have been sealed with varnish to prevent scratching and fading.
This doll has removable panels that either cover or reveal parts of her human anatomy at the torso, thigh, shin, and foot. These panels are attached with a small pin that inserts into tiny holes in the anatomy and can be pinned to the sides of her display box. Among her "accessories" is a gold hair comb, repurposed from a 1980s Barbie hairbrush.
The doll can be removed from the box; she hangs on a hook via invisible wire among a handcrafted wooden casket that's lined in a rich burgundy velvet and features pearl trim. The casket has hanging hardware in the back for simple wall mounting on nails.
